Crestwood Medical Center has appointed a new president as it begins a formal leadership transition tied to its partnership with Huntsville Hospital, according to online reports.
Crestwood Names New President

Crestwood Medical Center has named Kyle Buchanan as its next president. He will officially assume the role on April 20.
Buchanan currently leads Helen Keller Hospital and Red Bay Hospital. He will succeed Justin Serrano, who accepted a new leadership position in Florida. The remainder of Crestwood’s senior leadership team will remain in place during the transition.
Experienced North Alabama Health Care Leader
Buchanan brings more than 20 years of health care leadership experience. He previously served in roles across hospital operations, patient care, and workforce development.
His background includes leadership positions within the Huntsville Hospital Health System network, including Huntsville Hospital for Women & Children and other regional facilities.
Officials said his appointment supports continued integration efforts as Crestwood aligns more closely with the nonprofit system.
Focus on Continuity and Growth
Buchanan said patients and staff should expect continuity in care and services during the transition. He emphasized that existing physicians and care teams will remain in place.
In addition, he said the hospital will continue investing in staff and services to strengthen patient care in the Huntsville community.
HH Health CEO Jeff Samz said Buchanan’s North Alabama roots and leadership experience made him a strong fit for the role. He added that the appointment will help guide Crestwood’s future within the broader health system.
