City Barbeque has opened its first Alabama location in South Huntsville and plans to expand further across the state.
First Alabama Location Opens in Huntsville
The fast-growing national chain made its Alabama debut at 11544 Memorial Pkwy SW, near the intersection of Hobbs Road and U.S. 231. The restaurant’s parking lot stayed full for days following its Feb. 9 soft opening, signaling strong community support.
Company leaders say they chose Huntsville because of the region’s rapid growth and potential to support multiple locations. Rather than opening a single store, the brand intends to establish two or three restaurants in the area as part of a broaderAlabama expansion strategy.
Slow-Smoked Meats and Scratch-Made Sides
Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, City Barbeque specializes in slow-smoked meats prepared on-site. Pulled pork and brisket smoke for roughly 18 hours, while St. Louis-style ribs are seasoned, smoked, sauced, grilled and finished for a tender, bite-off-the-bone texture.
The menu features house-made sides such as mac and cheese, cornbread, creamy slaw and potato salad. Signature sauces include Original, Brush Fire, Sweet City, LoCo and Swine Wine. Guests can dine indoors, relax on the patio or use the drive-through and online ordering options for pickup.
Catering and Community Focus
In addition to daily service, City Barbeque offers catering for events ranging from small gatherings to large corporate functions. Company officials say they have fulfilled catering orders for thousands of guests at a time.
With nearly 80 locations across more than 10 states, the brand says it is proud to join Alabama’s barbecue scene and hopes to build a lasting presence in Huntsville and beyond.
