Battle of the Buffalo, Alabama’s largest chicken wing festival, will return to Huntsville for its 17th year in April, according to online reports.
Annual Wing Festival Set for April 18
The event will take place Saturday, April 18 from 12–5 p.m. at Big Spring Park. Organizers expect to feature more than 25 restaurant vendors and serve over 10,000 pounds of chicken wings.
General admission tickets include 12 wings and a beverage, while VIP tickets provide unlimited wings and additional access. Ticket prices are scheduled to increase closer to the event date.
Event Mixes Food, Entertainment, and Family Activities
Attendees will sample offerings from local restaurants as they move between vendor stations. A judging panel will evaluate entries and select top winners by the end of the event.
The festival will also include live music, more than 30 food and merchant vendors, and a designated children’s area with inflatables, face painting, and related activities. As a result, the event is positioned to attract both families and general attendees.
Fundraising Effort Continues for Cancer Research
The event was launched in 2009 by the Alpha Tau Omega at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as a philanthropic initiative. Since its inception, it has raised more than $500,000.
Proceeds support cancer research and patient services through organizations including Clearview Cancer Institute and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. Consequently, the festival continues to function as both a community event and a fundraising platform.
Organizers will also host the Salmon 5K on April 11, with proceeds contributing to the overall fundraising total.
