More than 1,400 students have completed training at the FBI’s Kinetic Cyber Range in Huntsville since the facility opened in early 2025, according to online reports.
FBI Cyber Training Facility Reaches New Milestone
Located at Redstone Arsenal, the Kinetic Cyber Range serves as an advanced training environment for FBI personnel and partner agencies. Since opening in February 2025, the facility has trained more than 1,400 students in cyber investigations and digital forensics.
In addition, the range hosts participants from organizations including NASA, the U.S. Army, and local law enforcement agencies.
Built Like a Real-World Town
The 22,000-square-foot facility is designed to resemble a functioning small town. It includes homes, hotel rooms, a courthouse, hospital, gas station, power company, business center, data center, and other realistic settings.
As a result, trainees can work through real-world investigative scenarios instead of relying solely on classroom instruction. Officials say the environment allows students to interact with the same technologies and systems they may encounter in the field.
Preparing Investigators for Modern Threats
The FBI says the facility helps agents, analysts, and forensic specialists develop practical skills through immersive training. Participants work with current technologies, including connected devices, drones, vehicle forensics tools, and modern software systems.
Meanwhile, agency officials describe the Kinetic Cyber Range as a groundbreaking training resource. They say the goal is to create realistic investigative experiences that better prepare personnel for today’s rapidly evolving cyber and digital security challenges.
