Beloved Huntsville gourmet store Rafael’s Table to close this month

According to online reports, Rafael’s Table, a beloved downtown Huntsville shop, will close at the end of August. Owner Abbe Diaz announced the news after recently being diagnosed with colon cancer.

A Personal and Heartfelt Decision

Diaz shared the update in an emotional social media post. She explained that she received the diagnosis three weeks ago and has since moved to Nashville to begin treatment at Vanderbilt. “As I now focus on healing and my health, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close Rafael’s Table,” she wrote.

More Than Just a Store

Known for unique kitchen goods, home décor, and engaging cooking classes, Rafael’s Table has been a gathering place for food lovers. Diaz described it as “so much more than a business,” a creative space where strangers became friends through food and conversation.

Closing Schedule and Final Sales

The shop will remain open Fridays and Saturdays through the end of August from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Everything in the store is currently 50% off. Cooking classes will also continue this month, led by Chef Molly, whom Diaz called “ever-talented” and full of heart. In September, the store will sell its fixtures and equipment.

Diaz closed her message with gratitude: “This moment marks the closing of a chapter—one filled with passion, purpose, and the joy of building something meaningful with all of you. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for being part of this journey.”
