Families in Huntsville will have the opportunity to learn about the Alabama School of Healthcare Sciences (ASHS), the state’s newest specialty public high school, and be among the first to apply.
Event Details
ASHS leaders will host a statewide informational session, A Future of Healthcare, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Dowdle Center Auditorium at Huntsville Hospital, 109 Governors Drive. The event is open to parents, students, and community members. You can register here.
What Attendees Will Learn
The session will provide an overview of ASHS, including its vision, innovative curriculum, campus life, and admissions process. School administrators will discuss opportunities for students to earn college credits, industry-recognized certifications, and hands-on experience through clinical and community partnerships.
Preparing Students for Healthcare Careers
ASHS, set to open in Fall 2026 in Demopolis, will offer a tuition-free residential program focused on training the next generation of healthcare workers. Students will complete the state-required core curriculum alongside specialized healthcare courses, preparing them to enter the workforce or pursue higher education with a head start.
