Spotlight on Alabama stars
Born in Huntsville and raised in Athens, Jessie Murph, 21, is known for hits like Blue Stripes, Touch Me Like a Gangster, and 1965. She blends cinematic pop with a country-infused drawl and a stage presence reminiscent of Lana Del Rey.
Alabama Shakes, founded in Athens in 2009, returns with singer Brittany Howard and members Zac Cockrell and Heath Fogg. Their recent release, Another Life, marks the band’s first new music in eight years. Known for hits like Hold On, Always Alright, and the Grammy-winning Don’t Wanna Fight, the band brings a mix of rock and soul to the festival.
Bonnaroo undercard and festival history
Additional acts include indie and punk groups Geese, Wet Leg, Amy & The Sniffers, classic rockers Wolfmother, Modest Mouse, Blues Traveler, and rap/electronic performers like Vince Staples, Lil Jon, and Major Lazer. The festival continues Bonnaroo’s tradition of diverse musical offerings, blending jam-band roots with contemporary headliners.
Since its 2002 debut, Bonnaroo has drawn crowds ranging from 45,000 to 100,000, with past headliners including Jay-Z, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Kendrick Lamar, Radiohead, and Metallica.
