Alabama A&M students are spreading holiday cheer by organizing a “stuff the bus” event, collecting Christmas presents for children in need in Huntsville.
Students Lead the Charge
The Bulldog Chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers spearheaded the event, encouraging community members to donate gifts.
Anthony DeVaughn II, a chapter member, said the idea was inspired by a similar toy drive in his hometown of Los Angeles.
Community Support and Partnerships
Students partnered with St. John AME Church in Huntsville. Pastor Maurice Wright emphasized the importance of supporting young people in their efforts to help others. Congregation members brought gifts that quickly filled the bus.
Delivering Holiday Joy
The collected presents were delivered to Christmas Charities Year Round, a Huntsville-based organization that ensures gifts reach children who need them most during the holidays.
Pamela Whitehead of the church said, “It’s everything that embodies the spirit of hopefulness, and that’s what Christmas is all about.”
