According to online reports, Huntsville Animal Services (HAS) will celebrate National Clear the Shelters Month throughout August with adoption events, waived adoption fees, and volunteer opportunities to help more pets find permanent homes.
Adoption events and waived fees planned
Huntsville Animal Services has scheduled several events and promotions during the month as part of its “Stars, Stripes & Second Chances” campaign.
Highlights include:
Aug. 8: Adopt on the Spot event at Woody Anderson Ford from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring onsite dog and cat adoptions.
Aug. 10–15: Select adoption fees will be waived. Residents can follow HAS social media for participating pets and additional details.
Aug. 17–22: Foster Appreciation Week will recognize the volunteers who provide temporary homes for shelter animals.
Aug. 28: The annual Slumber Paw-ty runs from 5–10 p.m. Guests are encouraged to wear pajamas while enjoying late-night adoptions, food trucks, waived fees, and social media challenges.
Every adoption includes essential care
Each pet adopted through Huntsville Animal Services comes with several important services already completed. These include age-appropriate vaccinations, a microchip, and spay or neuter surgery.
Additionally, this year’s campaign features George the dog and Martha the cat as patriotic mascots. The pair will appear in adoptable pet spotlights and campaign promotions throughout August.
Supporting pets in Huntsville
National Clear the Shelters is a nationwide initiative that encourages communities to adopt, foster, volunteer, and support local shelters. Since launching in 2015, the campaign has helped more than 1.3 million pets find homes while raising millions of dollars for shelters and rescue organizations.
Huntsville Animal Services hopes this year’s events will help more dogs and cats find loving families. Therefore, residents looking to add a pet to their household will have several opportunities to visit the shelter and participate throughout August.
