The Mercado Group is preparing to open a new pizza concept in the former Razzo Pizzeria space in downtown Huntsville, adding another locally owned dining option to the city’s growing restaurant scene.
Taking over the former Razzo location
The new restaurant will be located at 222 Holmes Ave. NE, the former home of Razzo Pizzeria, which closed in June 2026. While the restaurant’s name, menu, and opening date have not yet been announced, the concept will focus on pizza and occupy the existing downtown storefront.
Additional details are expected as development progresses.
From the team behind several Huntsville favorites
The project comes from The Mercado Group, the local hospitality company behind several well-known downtown restaurants, including Del Chuco, Chuco Underground, The Local, and The Standard.
Chef Erick Luther, one of the group’s owners, previously worked alongside acclaimed chefs at several Huntsville fine dining restaurants before launching his own concepts. His culinary philosophy emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
Continuing downtown Huntsville’s restaurant growth
Alongside Chef Erick Luther, co-owner Stephanie Luther focuses on creating welcoming spaces where guests can gather while also building partnerships with local vendors and producers.
The new pizza restaurant will further expand The Mercado Group’s presence in downtown Huntsville, though an official opening timeline has not yet been announced. More information, including the restaurant’s name and menu, is expected at a later date.
