Food City is continuing its expansion across North Alabama with the opening of another grocery store serving the Huntsville area. The new location in Athens marks another milestone in the company’s regional growth plans.
Food City Opening New Athens Store
The newest Food City store is scheduled to open on July 22 on Lucas Ferry Road in Athens. The 57,000-square-foot grocery store will become the company’s fifth location in the Huntsville market.
The opening brings Food City one step closer to completing its plan for six stores serving the greater Huntsville area.
Store Features Fresh Foods and Convenient Services
Shoppers can expect a wide variety of departments and amenities at the new location.
The store includes a bakery, deli, hot food bar, fresh sushi, catering services, and full-service meat and seafood departments. In addition, customers will find expanded grocery, produce, and frozen food sections.
Other features include a floral department, pharmacy, Starbucks café, curbside pickup, home delivery, and a Food City Gas N’ Go station.
Food City Continues North Alabama Growth
Company leaders said previous Huntsville-area locations have received a positive response from customers, helping fuel the company’s continued investment in the region.
Food City’s parent company operates more than 160 grocery stores across several southeastern states, including Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, and Virginia.
The Athens opening represents another step in the retailer’s ongoing commitment to expanding shopping options for residents throughout North Alabama.
