A new grocery store is preparing to expand its footprint in North Alabama with another Madison County location, according to online reports.
Food City Plans New Madison Grocery Location
Food City is set to break ground on a new store along Old Highway 20 in Madison. The groundbreaking is scheduled for Friday, May 15, at 10 a.m.
The new store at 29960 Old Highway 20 NW will add to the chain’s growing presence in Madison County, where multiple locations are already operating or planned. Officials have not yet announced an opening date.
The project reflects continued grocery retail expansion in fast-growing areas of North Alabama.
Store to Feature Full-Service Grocery and Amenities
Food City is known for offering a wide range of grocery items, including full-service bakery options, custom meat and seafood counters, and everyday household essentials.
Many locations also include additional services such as pharmacies, Starbucks cafés, and fuel stations. Some stores offer curbside pickup and home delivery options for added convenience.
These features have helped the chain position itself as a full-service grocery destination in several Southeastern markets.
Expansion Continues Across Madison County
The new Madison store is part of a broader plan that includes multiple Food City locations across the region, including sites in Hampton Cove, Memorial Parkway, and Old Gurley.
As North Alabama continues to grow, grocery retailers are expanding to serve increasing residential development and suburban communities.
The new store is expected to support that demand while adding another shopping option for Madison-area residents.
