Huntsville dining scene loses Tom Brown’s at Hays Farm

A well-known Huntsville-area restaurant has permanently closed its final location, according to online reports.

Tom Brown’s Restaurant Closes Final Huntsville Location

Tom Brown’s Restaurant announced Monday that its south Huntsville location at Hays Farm has closed permanently. The closure comes less than two years after the restaurant opened in the development near Memorial Parkway.

The restaurant’s original Madison location closed in 2024, leaving the Huntsville site as the company’s final remaining restaurant.

In a social media announcement, the owners said ongoing health issues involving a financial partner created operational challenges that prevented the business from continuing.

Owners Shift Back to Previous Careers

Chef and owner Tom Brown said he will now return his focus to real estate brokerage and development. Meanwhile, co-owner Ashley Brown plans to return full-time to the embroidery and promotional products industry, where she has worked for decades.

Tom Brown’s Restaurant became known in the Huntsville area for seafood dishes, steaks, and distinctive interior design. The restaurant also gained attention for its upscale but relaxed atmosphere.

In 2025, local media outlets included the restaurant on lists highlighting notable Huntsville spots for gumbo and seafood.

Employees and Customers Share Emotional Reactions

Following the announcement, former employees and longtime customers shared emotional reactions online. One employee described the restaurant as a place where she built friendships, mentorships, and lasting memories after relocating to Alabama several years ago.

She also praised the restaurant staff for remaining loyal and committed during both busy and difficult periods.

The closure marks the end of a restaurant brand that quickly became part of Huntsville’s growing dining scene during a period of rapid development across the city.
