New Huntsville school planned for fast-growing area

Huntsville City Schools plans to build a new campus in a fast-growing area to meet rising enrollment demand, according to online reports.

New School Planned for Hampton Cove

Huntsville City Schools is preparing to purchase land in the Hampton Cove area for a new school. District leaders say the project targets one of the fastest-growing parts of the city.

Board member Andrea Alvarez confirmed the plan. She noted that the land purchase is already included in the district’s long-term strategy.

Part of Long-Term Growth Plan

The project falls under the district’s 10-year capital plan, which runs from 2024 through 2034. This plan outlines future investments to support student growth across Huntsville.

Officials are now finalizing the land purchase. In addition, they expect to announce the exact location soon. Leaders say more details could be released as early as May.

Capacity and Student Impact

Plans call for a school building of about 120,000 square feet. The campus will serve roughly 1,000 students.

District leaders have not finalized whether the school will serve elementary or middle grades. However, the goal remains clear. The new campus will help relieve crowding and support continued growth in the area.

As Huntsville expands, school officials continue to plan ahead. Therefore, projects like this aim to keep pace with rising enrollment and community needs.
