Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill coming to Huntsville and Decatur

Hawaiian Bros. Island Grill, the island-inspired quick-service restaurant chain, is bringing its signature plate lunches to Huntsville and Decatur. This expansion is part of a 34-unit growth into North Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.

What Makes Hawaiian Bros. Unique

Hawaiian Bros. stands out for its Hawaiian plate lunch, which features a protein such as Huli Huli chicken, Luau Pig, or SPAM musubi, served with two scoops of white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. The meals celebrate Hawaii’s multicultural culinary history. By blending flavors from immigrant laborers of the 1880s with local ingredients like pineapple, the chain offers a unique taste of the islands.

The History of the Plate Lunch

The plate lunch began as a practical midday meal for plantation workers from many countries. Over time, these workers combined their culinary traditions into one hearty, flavorful dish. Today, the plate lunch remains a symbol of Hawaii’s food culture. It brings communities together and reflects the aloha spirit.

Menu

The menu features the classic plate lunch, which comes with white rice, macaroni salad, and a choice of protein. Signature dishes include Huli Huli Chicken, marinated teriyaki grilled to perfection; Molokai Chicken, sweet and spicy with a mild kick; Honolulu Chicken, savory with garlic, green onions, and sesame; and Luau Pig, slow-roasted Kalua Pork seasoned with Hawaiian sea salt. For those who enjoy heat, Kilauea Chicken delivers a sweet and spicy lava-hot kick. Lighter options include Seasoned Vegetables and the Pacific Island Salad, with Huli Huli Chicken, romaine, mandarin oranges, cilantro, chow mein noodles, and island vinaigrette.

For variety, the Mixed Plate lets guests choose any two entrées. Wraps offer handheld versions of favorite flavors, including the Huli Huli Wrap, Molokai Mac Wrap, and Pacific Island Wrap. Sides include macaroni salad, pineapple, white rice, seasoned vegetables, and SPAM® Musubi, complemented by Teriyaki and Pineapple BBQ sauces. Dessert features Dole Soft Serve®, a fat-free, dairy-free, gluten-free tropical treat, with a selection of bottled and fountain drinks.

Expansion Plans in Alabama

Hawaiian Bros. plans to open new locations in Huntsville and Decatur, bringing fast, casual, island-inspired cuisine to these communities. While the exact opening dates and locations have not yet been announced, the company will provide updates on its website and social media. This expansion allows more people to experience the comfort and flavors of Hawaii.
