More than two dozen million-dollar construction permits were approved statewide last week, with a significant share tied to projects in Huntsville and Madison County. Together, Huntsville-area permits total more than $60 million, signaling continued momentum in commercial and residential development.
Major Huntsville Projects Lead the Way
Several of the largest permits were issued for developments along Winchester Road and Zierdt Road. Multiple permits for the Victory Spivey Sutton Estates project on Winchester Road each exceeded $4 million, reflecting a sizable multi-unit development underway in Northeast Huntsville.
On Zierdt Road, two permits valued at nearly $15 million each were issued for projects tied to Bailey Pope Had Land Equity LLC, marking some of the most expensive new construction approvals in the city this week.
Commercial Growth Continues
Additional Huntsville permits include projects for retail, hospitality, and automotive services, including work on University Drive and Town Center Drive. These developments point to continued investment in Huntsville’s growing commercial corridors, particularly in West and Southwest Huntsville.
Huntsville’s Role in Statewide Construction
While Birmingham and Tuscaloosa also saw major permits—most notably a $54 million University of Alabama project—Huntsville remained one of the most active markets on the list. The steady flow of high-dollar permits underscores North Alabama’s ongoing expansion and strong demand for new residential and commercial space.
