Huntsville Hospital is planning a new $50 million health care facility in north Huntsville, adding an emergency room and imaging center near the upcoming North Village Town Center development.
New Facility in North Huntsville
The hospital’s new site will occupy 7.75 acres south of the $240 million North Village Town Center at North Memorial Parkway. City officials have worked closely with Huntsville Hospital to secure a suitable location for long-term growth in the area. The facility is expected to expand services as the surrounding district continues to develop.
City Support and Land Sales
The Huntsville City Council approved the purchase of the land from the Howard Revocable Family Trust, with plans to sell it to the hospital. Revenue from nearby land sales to developers of Home Depot, Target, and Express Oil Change will help fund the transaction. City officials estimate the net from these sales will exceed $881,000.
“This is a positive step for District 1,” said City Councilwoman Michelle Watkins, highlighting the growing confidence in the area as a place for both residents and investors.
Hospital Growth and Future Plans
Huntsville Hospital Health System is also seeking state approval for a second free-standing emergency department in Hampton Cove, in addition to expanding the emergency department at Madison Hospital by six beds. Hospital CEO Jeff Samz emphasized that the system is committed to meeting the needs of a rapidly growing community while preparing for future population growth.
This new facility reinforces Huntsville Hospital’s long-standing presence in the region and reflects the city’s ongoing development efforts to attract investment and enhance local healthcare access.
