Huntsville is home to many unique, locally-owned businesses and shops. Here at Homely Huntsville, we love to visit these businesses and provide a thorough, honest review to help consumers make an informed decision on whether they want to bring their business there.
That said, in this post, we will be talking about South & Pine.

ToggleSouth & Pine Madison Alabama
South & Pine is a small shop located at 14 Main Street, Suite C, Madison, Alabama. The shop itself is nestled into many shops that are similar in kind, all with a charming, small town feel. Being located on Madison’s Main Sreet adds to the small town charm of the quaint little shop.
What Does South & Pine Sell?
South & Pine sells, what I would call, ‘a little bit of everything.’ They do not have huge quantities of any type of item, or any one product, but they have a variety of different goods to pursue in their store.
Candles
Probably one of their biggest selling points are their candles and fragrances. South & Pine has a small line of fragrances that are available in candles as well as reed diffusers and room sprays.
All of their candles are made of 100 percent soy, and they have a cotton wick. In essence, this means that when the candles are burned, they will not release pollutants into the atmosphere, and they produce less soot, which does less harm to indoor air quality, making them ideal for those with allergies and respiratory issues.
Their candles are also poured locally in North Alabama, and all of the fragrances are carefully curated by South & Pine. The room sprays and the oils in the reed diffusers are also made in house!
Home
Another good portion of the store is dedicated to home decor. The home decor in the store changes with the seasons, and the current theme is very clean and minimalistic while still having a bright, spring feeling. Though they do carry ‘a little bit of everything,’ the majority of the decor is pots and planters, picture frames, baskets and trays, and wall art.
Kitchen
They also carry kitchen supplies. Their kitchen supplies are a bit harder to put into a small number of categories, but they carry a good number of small kitchen tools and gadgets and some other items that you would need in a kitchen, like cutting boards and dishes.
Baby
Their children’s and baby section is perhaps their third largest category. They have a small selection of baby and childrens toys and books, as well as baby clothes and accessories. There is no children’s clothing in the store, but the baby outfits they do stock are very cute.
Apparel
The store also has a very limited amount of adult clothing. The clothing is generally feminine in style, and due to the limited stock, there is also quite limited sizing. Additionally, South & Pine carries accessories like sunglasses, bracelets, bandanas, ear rings, small bags, and hats.
South & Pine also carries t-shirts printed with the South & Pine logos in their adult sizes.
Other
Then, South & Pine has a whole manner of other items that are far too numerous to list. They had things like candy, skincare, soap and lotion, stationary, and a small selection of gifts geared towards men.
My Thoughts on South and Pine
There are no true negatives about South & Pine, only factors that will make it clear whether or not the shop is something that you will enjoy. The shop is very feminine and doesn’t really carry much that caters to someone with a more masculine sense of style. The clothing is not very size-inclusive; most items only come in small, medium, or large. The prices are what you would expect from a shop of this size and caliber, not comparable to big box stores.
A Good Place to Visit?
Overall, what really put South & Pine over the top for me was the little extra touches. They have a small coffee and tea bar in the back that is completely free to help yourself to. The store offers a free gift-wrapping service and hosts the occasional workshop.
And there isn’t enough that can be said about the caliber of employees there. They are kind and helpful, totally willing to help you find what you need or to tell you about their products, without being overbearing or pushy.
In complete transparency – when I arrived, the shop was just about to close. I was fully prepared to come back another day, but when I peeked in to ask, one of the employees invited me inside. When I expressed my concern about being there after closing, she reassured me that she was still working on something and that there was no reason I couldn’t be there.
Overall, I think South & Pine is a great, small, locally-owned business to support, and I would definitely recommend a visit.
