Whether heading to a Havoc game with your friends, fueling up for a long walk about Lowe Mill, or just having dinner for two with your special someone, you never want to skimp on quality. But quality doesn’t have to be a fine dining experience. In my opinion, there are fewer things better than a classic burger to get you through a fun evening, and the Peppered Pig delivers.

TogglePeppered Pig Huntsville, Alabama
Recently, before taking in a hockey game, we stopped by the Peppered Pig, a cute little burger joint just off Memorial on Four Mile Post Road. It’s an unassuming little place just off the road in a plaza with a few other places, but it really made an impression on us. Once you enter the shop, you’ll walk right up to the counter and place your order before finding a seat at a table or along the sizeable bar just around the corner.
On the day we visited, we were met with blustery weather, chill winds, and the threat of rain. On a beautiful day, though, you might have more outdoorsy options—we spied a patio in the back of the restaurant, but unfortunately, the bad weather prevented us from enjoying it. If you’re visiting in a nicer climate, you might have a little fresh air to look forward to as well!
Peppered Pig Food
If you’re a fan of a thick patty, quality toppings, and plenty of flavor, absolutely give this one a try. These burgers are thick, fresh, and tender, a mainstay of the area for more than ten years now. Keep in mind, these are award-winning burgers, fries, and sandwiches, so you can expect quality.
Just be sure that you don’t make our mistake and forget to specify you want the side—the fries are worth specifying the extra side addition, but some of us may have forgotten to make the addition. Remember as well that fries are not your only option—if you’re more of a mac and cheese person or are playing it healthy with a salad, these are also great menu options for you.
Wings
Now, I know the main event here is the burgers, but we have to talk about these wings first. We ordered some wings to give them a try, and what a treat. These are some hefty wings, too—plenty of meat on each of them, enough to make a meal on their own.
We picked the buffalo sauce for the wings, which was surprisingly sweet, in the best way. Tangy, smooth, and just a little sweet, these wings were gone in a heartbeat.
Classic Plain Jane Burger
Let’s start with a classic—the Plain Jane. Offered as a simple, no-frills option for those who like the patty and bun most of all, one of our party decided to keep it easy with this one (plus a little lettuce, tomato, and cheese). Don’t let its simplicity fool you: this burger packs a ton of flavor in a high-quality 8-ounce burger patty, balanced with a soft, flavorful bun.
While I prefer to get a little more experimental with my meals, I can’t deny the punch this burger packs. You can really focus on the flavor of the patty, and that smoky beef gets to be the star of the show.
Mushroom and Swiss Burger
If you like a mushroom and Swiss cheese burger, this is absolutely the sandwich for you. Of course, their version of this classic burger is a little bit fancier, which adds a little extra kick to the sandwich; their burgers have shiitake, button, and baby bella mushrooms on top. I didn’t expect this to make as much of a difference as it does, but it adds a dimension to the flavor I didn’t expect.
The Bulgogi Burger
Now, there wasn’t a burger I didn’t like here, but this one? This is easily the best on the menu, in my opinion. If you’re a fan of Korean barbecue sauce and kimchi, run, don’t walk. This burger packs a new level of complex flavors and textures that build on one another like they were made to be on a burger.
This burger also stands out because the patty is marinated in Korean barbecue sauce, and it makes all the difference. Just remember to ask for extra napkins—they don’t skimp on the sauce, which is great for the burger but did not bode well for my shirt!
What’s for Dessert?
The Peppered Pig is known for its entrees, but their fried pies are not to be missed. We tried the chocolate fried pie, and when I use the word “decadent,” I don’t mean it lightly, but I do mean it in the best way. These little pies are full of melted, soft milk chocolate, with a portion of whipped cream for dipping and a strawberry to complement the decadently sweet chocolate.
Unfortunately, as beautiful a dessert as this was, it did not survive long enough for pictures—shortly after we received it, the table set upon it like wolves. Still, that’s a vote of confidence in my book, so be sure you save a little room for dessert when you visit.
Don’t Miss Out on Their Tasty Deal Days
Having trouble choosing? With so many tasty options, it can be tough to decide. Fortunately, the Peppered Pig offers more deals and opportunities to sample plenty of other
First, watch out for slider Tuesdays. Every Tuesday, they offer a trio of sliders of their burger options. That gives you a chance to try them all, share with friends, and choose your favorite! They also offer wing options on Wednesdays, which also offer a variety of sauces to sample, so you can get a taste of everything they have to offer.
Keep an eye on their social media as well for recent menu additions and short-term offers. They frequently offer limited-time desserts, new dishes, and options for customers to try out, so you might have something new to try.
Looking for a Great Burger? The Peppered Pig Does Not Disappoint
If this made you hungry, don’t hesitate to check out the Peppered Pig. You can expect a filling, delicious meal, a pleasant atmosphere, and a wonderful dessert if you’re a fried pie fiend like myself. While I personally recommend the bulgogi burger, you can’t go wrong with anything on their menu.
