The Defense Department awarded Raytheon Co. the contract to produce 131 Tomahawk missiles under a fixed-price, undefinitized agreement. This agreement includes allocations for multiple U.S. military branches and allied nations, further emphasizing the importance of this effort.
Specifically, Raytheon will manufacture 26 long-range cruise missiles for the U.S. Army and 16 for the Marine Corps. Moreover, 11 missiles will go to Australia, while Japan will receive 78. These allocations underline the strong defense partnerships between the United States and its allies.
Financial allocation and timeline
The Defense Department immediately allocated $31.7 million of the contract’s total value to kickstart the work. From this, $21.5 million came from foreign military sales funds, demonstrating an international commitment to the project.
