Color Me Mine is a relatively new addition to the Huntsville area. It is a pottery painting experience, much like some of the others you can find in other cities, but there are also some minor differences.
Color Me Mine is a franchise that has opened a location at MidCity. This branch of the franchise is woman-owned!

ToggleThe Color Me Mine Experience
We went to Color Me Mine on a weekend, and we were a bit worried that we wouldn’t be able to get in, since the weekend is a hot time for these types of activities, but they had a table for us.
When we arrived, we were greeted by an employee, who let us know which table would be ours, and invited us to take a look around at all the ceramic sculptures we could paint. They had plenty of options – there were more plain options like blank plates, bowls, and mugs, and there were small sculptures.
Once we picked out our ceramic pieces, we took them to the table and filled out a short information sheet. We had to leave a phone number and email for them to contact us when our pieces were finished being fired in the kiln. Then we were able to pick our paint. One of the employees put the paint onto a palette for us, and we were allowed to pick our brushes and start painting!
The Painting Process
At Color Me Mine, you can be as creative as you care to be! The employees provide you with brushes, sponges, q-tips, paper towels, and a bowl of water. There are also small bottles with needle sized tips that allow for you to add finer details and lettering. With these tools, you can let your imagination run wild! We chose to paint a snake mug, a skull mug, and a cartoonish snake.
They had a variety of colors available. They were suited to a variety of different projects – there were some bright colors as well as a few more muted and neutral tones. One thing to note is that the palettes are quite small, so you will go through your paint fast. Never fear, though, the employees are happy to give you more of whatever colors you need!
The Atmosphere
The atmosphere at Color Me Mine is a little different from your average pottery painting studio. Like most the atmosphere was fun and light, but it was also a bit more “mature” than some of the others. The music playing was modern, and it was played at a decently loud volume.
The employees were kind and welcoming and seemed like they were more than happy to help and accommodate you in any way possible. The furniture inside was brightly colored and the large windows kept the small studio well lit.
Color Me Mine FAQs
Can I bring my pet?
Color Me Mine is pet-friendly! And the employees are more than happy to help you and your furry friend make a sentimental piece of pottery. They can help you and your pal leave a paw print on a piece of pottery.
Is it a good activity for children?
Color Me Mine is a great place to bring your kids! They are more than happy to help your little ones bring their vision to life.
When should I visit?
There are definitely some days that are better than others—we went on a weekend and were able to walk right in, but online reviews suggest that the crowds tend to be much heavier on the weekend. If you arrive when all of the tables are full, you may be turned away and asked to come back later. Weekdays may be the best time to visit.
How long should I expect to spend at Color Me Mine?
This question differs from person to person. We spent a couple of hours working hard to make our perfect pieces of pottery. Some children who are not as excited to paint their pottery piece may only spend half an hour in the studio. Then there is the chance for anything between!
How Much is Color Me Mine?
The price point is reasonable when you consider that you are paying for the experience as well as the pottery itself. There is a 10-dollar studio fee for each person, and then you pay for your pottery piece. For three people to paint three pieces, we paid about $120.00.
Visiting Color Me Mine Huntsville
Overall, this is a great place to go for a fun activity! It is a bit pricey, especially if you are bringing young children who are not interested. Still, for someone interested in and excited about painting, this is an awesome opportunity!
