A Huntsville City Schools teacher is finally heading home to the United States after being stranded in Dubai.
Stranded in a War Zone
Whitney Crowell’s dream vacation turned into a week-long nightmare. She found herself in the middle of a conflict zone, unable to fly out because U.S. airlines had suspended flights to Dubai. Other airlines either canceled flights, were overbooked, or charged as much as $10,000 for a ticket.
Community Support Helps Her Return
Crowell relied on a GoFundMe campaign to help cover expenses during her unexpected week abroad. The fundraiser allowed her to secure a flight home, ending a tense and uncertain period.
A Joyful Homecoming Awaits
When she returns this weekend, Crowell will be greeted with even more happiness. Her twin brother and sister-in-law are in labor with their first child, a baby girl. After the ordeal in Dubai, Whitney will come home to a very special welcome.
