An Alabama manufacturer plans to lay off approximately 73 employees this July at its facility in Dothan.
Layoffs scheduled to begin July 25
According to a notice posted on Alabama’s WARN list, Globe Motors will start the layoffs on July 25. The cuts will affect operations at the company’s plant on Napier Field Road.
Workforce impact and company background
WTVY in Dothan reports that the layoffs will impact nearly half of the facility’s staff, which currently totals around 160 workers. Globe Motors designs, manufactures, and distributes small, precision motors and motorized devices, according to its website.
Despite multiple attempts, news outlets have not been able to reach Allied Motion, Globe Motors’ parent company, for comment on the layoffs.
Part of a broader trend in Alabama
Globe Motors isn’t the only company announcing job cuts in the state this month. Other firms—including Oracle, Amcor, and Bilfinger—have also reported layoffs. These workforce reductions reflect broader economic adjustments across several industries in Alabama.
