Huntsville is moving forward with the next phase of the North Huntsville Greenway, with a new engineering agreement covering a planned stretch between Holmes Avenue and Pratt Avenue.
A new greenway segment is moving forward
The city has entered an engineering services agreement with Barge Design Solutions Inc. for Segment C, which will cover approximately 4,500 feet of trail.
The work includes surveying, permitting and design services to prepare the segment for development. The project is expected to take about two years to complete.

Plans include pedestrian bridges and a trailhead
Design work will cover two precast pedestrian bridges crossing Dallas Branch and Pinhook Creek. The segment will also include a gateway trailhead to provide an access point for greenway users.
These features are part of the planned expansion of Huntsville’s network of walking and recreation paths.
Greenway aims to connect downtown and Alabama A&M
The North Huntsville Greenway is planned to connect Downtown Huntsville with Alabama A&M University, creating new opportunities for recreation and investment in surrounding neighborhoods.
The project team, led by Atlanta-based Lord Aeck Sargent, is drawing inspiration from Atlanta’s BeltLine, a major trail and redevelopment project. While the full greenway does not yet have a set completion date, additional sections are expected to follow Segment C.
