A new healthcare clinic has opened in North Huntsville, expanding access to primary care services for area residents, according to online reports.
New clinic opens near Alabama A&M University
Huntsville Hospital has partnered with Alabama A&M University to open a new Physicians Care clinic in North Huntsville.
The facility is located within a half-mile of the university campus. In addition, officials recently celebrated the opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Hospital leaders said they initially explored an urgent care concept. However, they later decided to establish a primary care clinic to provide broader healthcare services.
Clinic offers preventive and primary care services
The new clinic will provide a variety of healthcare services for patients. These include preventive screenings, annual physicals, immunizations, and chronic disease management.
In addition, patients can visit the clinic for sick visits, employment physicals, and sports physicals. Officials say these services will help residents access care closer to home.
The facility spans approximately 3,200 square feet and includes five exam rooms along with a procedure room.
Expansion aims to improve healthcare access
Hospital officials say the clinic is designed to improve healthcare access in an underserved part of the city. They believe earlier screenings and regular primary care can help address health concerns before they become more serious.
Furthermore, Huntsville Hospital leaders highlighted the importance of expanding services in North Huntsville and strengthening community partnerships.
The clinic will be managed by Tammy Smith, PA, an Alabama A&M alumna. Finally, officials say the new location represents a long-term investment in community health and wellness.
