The 2026 college football season will kick off August 29 at Joe Davis Stadium’s Wicks Family Field. The University of North Alabama will face Samford in a neutral-site matchup, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
This will be the first Division I football game played at the stadium since its renovation. City leaders say the upgraded venue was designed to host a wide range of sporting and entertainment events, making college football a natural fit.
Economic Impact for Huntsville
Officials expect the game to draw fans from across the state, generating increased hotel stays, restaurant traffic and retail activity. The matchup adds to Huntsville’s expanding sports calendar and supports the city’s broader economic development goals.
