A nostalgic ice cream parlor called Fizzy Flapper is coming to Lowe Mill in spring 2026, adding a playful new twist to the already immersive Dragon’s Forge Cafe experience.
A Fantasy Cafe with a Sweet New Addition
Fizzy Flapper will operate within Dragon’s Forge Cafe, Studio 2073, expanding the cafe’s fantasy-tavern atmosphere with classic ice cream offerings. Located at Lowe Mill ARTS & Entertainment, Dragon’s Forge has built a reputation for transporting visitors into a whimsical world that feels far removed from everyday routine.
The new ice cream concept aims to complement that environment while giving guests another reason to linger, explore, and gather.
From Traveling Artists to Lowe Mill Staple
Owners Bruce and Jennie Caudle opened Dragon’s Forge Cafe in 2021, although the idea had been in the works for years. Before settling at Lowe Mill, the duo traveled nationwide as artists, selling their work at conventions.
In 2019, they established a storefront at Lowe Mill. With extensive kitchen backgrounds and more than a decade of combined coffee experience, the Caudles finally brought their shared dream of opening a cafe to life during the pandemic. Choosing a fantasy theme felt natural, especially since they wanted to create an escape unlike anything else in the local food scene.
Whimsical Design and Community Focus
Jennie Caudle, the cafe’s illustrator, designed a collection of dragons that represent individual drinks on the menu. Those characters will continue to shape the brand, with future plans for themed merchandise that expands the story behind the cafe.
Dragon’s Forge features unique flavored lattes and food inspired by Jennie’s family recipes, drawing from Southern and Czech traditions. The space doubles as a community hub, hosting game nights, gatherings, and occasional live music.
With the addition of Fizzy Flapper, the cafe plans to deepen that sense of fun and connection—this time with a scoop (or two) of old-fashioned charm.
