Hospitals across Alabama often see multiple births around the start of the new year, but one newborn officially earns the title of the state’s first baby each year, a symbol of fresh beginnings.

Hospital officials confirmed that a baby girl named Kathryn “Kit” was born at 12:03 a.m. on January 1 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville. She was welcomed by her parents, Lindsay and Spencer, along with her big sister, Charlotte.

A Special Moment for the Family and Community

Baby Kathryn weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces at birth and was described as healthy and doing well. Her arrival brought smiles to both her family and hospital staff, offering a heartwarming way for Huntsville and Alabama to ring in the new year.
